What is the base made of? Did you use a wooden plaque? How does it hang?

I'm experimenting with bas relief, too, but I'm going to mount mine in a shadowbox frame, I think. If you look at my gallery, you'll see my quetzal bird.

Oh, and I really like the doo-dad on her tail fin. :)

The base is a wooden plaque. I spread a thin layer of liquid kato all over and worked from there. Its got a sawtooth hanger on the back.
I love working in bas relief. This is my fourth and its definitely my favorite way of sculpting now. I can do a lot more detailing than with round sculptures. Haven't tried low relief yet but thats interesting too because I like painting with a little texture.

Your quetzal bird is awesome!
